What Is a Mentor?

There are two types of user roles supported by the Vygo platform: mentees, meaning people seeking support, and mentors, being those who offer it.

Our mentors are champions in their fields of expertise, they may be university staff, alumni, industry mentors, coaches, advisors or peers. As well as acting as role models, mentors focus on supporting the development and growth of those less experienced than them by building trust, offering support, facilitating learning and demonstrating positive behaviours.

Mentors help mentees develop confidence as they hone their skills through personalised learning. They also encourage mentees to work towards their goals, celebrating small successes along the way.

Through Vygo’s flexible and multifaceted support systems, mentors are able to offer assistance in either a one-to-one or a one-to-many context, be it on-campus or online at any time.

Note: Mentors could be Buddies, Supporters, Tutors or anyone who is offering support to students in their academic journey!
